چکیده

Wireless networks equipped with CSMA are scheduled in a fully distributed manner. A disadvantage of such distributed control in multihop networks is the hidden node problem, which causes the effect of stealing, in which a downstream node steals the channel from an upstream node with probability p. Aziz, Starobinski, and Thiran [IEEE/ACM Trans. Networking, to appear] have recently shown that the N-hop model with stealing is stable only in the case N = 3 and p ∈ (0, 1]. This 3-hop model can be represented as a random walk in the quarter plane. We derive various asymptotic expressions for the stationary large buffer probabilities of the 3-hop model that capture the effect of p. We mainly rely on the ray method, and we show how this method is related to the compensation approach and singularity analysis.

The Impact of Multihop Wireless Channel on TCP Throughput and Loss

This paper studies TCP performance over multihop wireless networks that use the IEEE 802.11 protocol as the access method. Our analysis and simulations show that, given a specific network topology and flow patterns, there exists a TCP window size W , at which TCP achieves best throughput via improved spatial channel reuse. However, TCP does not operate around W , and typically grows its average...

An Adaptive LEACH-based Clustering Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

LEACH is the most popular clastering algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, it has two main drawbacks, including random selection of cluster heads, and direct communication of cluster heads with the sink. This paper aims to introduce a new centralized cluster-based routing protocol named LEACH-AEC (LEACH with Adaptive Energy Consumption), which guarantees to generate balanced cl...

FDMG: Fault detection method by using genetic algorithm in clustered wireless sensor networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of sensor nodes which are capable of sensing different environmental phenomena and sending the collected data to the base station or Sink. Since sensor nodes are made of cheap components and are deployed in remote and uncontrolled environments, they are prone to failure; thus, maintaining a network with its proper functions even when und...

A Novel Queue Management Mechanism for IEEE 802.11s based Mesh Networks

Abstract – Wireless Mesh networks exploit multi-hop wireless communications between Access Points to replace wired infrastructure. However, in multi-hop networks, effective bandwidth decreases with increasing number of hops, mainly due to increased spatial contention. Longer hop length flows suffer from extremely low throughputs which is highly undesirable in the envisioned scenarios for mesh n...

Modelling and Analysis of TCP Performance in Wireless Multihop Networks

Researchers have used extensive simulation and experimental studies to understand TCP performance in wireless multihop networks. In contrast, the objective of this paper is to theoretically analyze TCP performance in this environment. By examining the case of running one TCP session over a string topology, a system model for analyzing TCP performance in multihop wireless networks is proposed, w...
